2) 2008 HP Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative Request for Proposals. Available now! HP has launched its 2008 HP Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative, which will award grants of nearly $7 million in cash and equipment. K-12 grants are available to public schools in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Web-based applications are due by 5 p.m. PST, February 14, 2008. WORKSHOPS:

1) "Research Experience For Teachers" 8-week summer internships at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory working with individual astronomers or other staff on their research. RET participants will be involved in one of several astronomy research projects which involve using radio telescopes to make observations, analyze data, construct instruments or monitor the local interference environment. 2) "Inquiring with GIS" (iGIS), a professional development program for 9th and 10th grade general science teachers, will be held next summer in Frostburg, MD.
